You have therefore informed yourself a little about it and you have discovered that there is the possibility of playing together anyway, even if you do not quite understand how. That's exactly why you're wondering how to activate cross platform on Fortnite, True? I understand it: on the other hand, the updates that have arrived over the years have changed the situation a bit and therefore it may not be exactly easy to "extricate yourself" from the choices of Epic Games.

Before going into the details of the procedure on how to activate cross platform on Fortnite, I think it may interest you to know that there are more terms to indicate the possibility of playing with players who usually enjoy the Epic Games title from other platforms. For example, you might come across the term cross play (o crossplay/cross-play), as well as in that cross platform play (o cross-platform). Having made this premise, I would say that the time has come to go into detail about the various methods at your disposal to reach your friends in Battle Royale games, in relation to PC, consul e mobile devices.

Note: Fortnite cross platform is based on Epic Games account. In simple terms, if you want to play with friends who have other platforms, the "basic requirements" that are required of you are link your Epic Games profile to your console profile (if it hasn't already been done) e add other users as friends from within the game. How to activate cross platform Fortnite: PlayStation and Xbox

How do you say? Would you like to play the version of Fortnite per console? No problem: I'll explain shortly how to activate cross platform in fortnite on ps4, PS5, Xbox One e Xbox Series X / S. Indeed, you must know that players who own these consoles can play together: here I will make a practical example starting from PlayStation 4 / PlayStation 5, but I'll also give you some quick insight into the world Xbox (so that you can generally understand how it all works).

The situation may change over time (as I will explain later in the tutorial, in the past some updates have changed the functioning of the Fortnite cross platform), so later I will also refer you to the sources that can allow you to stay updated on the issue, but usually everything is based on an internal option to Fortnite.

To be clear, come on PS4 / PS5 you just start Fortnite, press the button Options controller and use the key X first abovegear icon and then on the voice SETTINGS, so as to reach the game options. After that, once you reach the tab of thelittle man icon at the top right, you will find the option ENABLES CROSS-PLATFORM PLAY. You just have to make sure that the latter is set to Yes (if it's not already the case), then applying the changes. In this way, you have activated the cross platform and now indicatively you can also play with Fortnite users who use, for example, an Xbox console (even in random games).

How to activate cross platform Fortnite: Nintendo Switch and mobile devices

After having delved into the situation for PlayStation and Xbox, the time has come to go into detail on the other two platforms, that is Nintendo Switch and mobile devices. Why am I referring to these platforms “together”? Simple, theFortnite update 8.10, which arrived in March 2019, changed the way cross platforming takes place a bit, by making Nintendo Switch players play together in random games with those from smartphones and tablets (more details on the official Epic Games portal).

This is a question that also comes in handy for guaranteeing greater competitiveness, making those who play from "fixed" consoles such as PlayStation and Xbox collide with each other and instead letting those who have a "portable" console such as Nintendo Switch, a smartphone or a tablet compete in another way. In short, there is a subdivision In this compound. Usually, therefore, in the case of these platforms there is little that can be done, since it is the official information is this and no options to change this appear in the game.

However, I still recommend you try it to carry out what is indicated in the preliminary chapter of the tutorial, i.e. try to add other users as Epic Games friends. In fact, these limitations usually do not apply to games with friends (even if the situation is evolving), but only to those in which you play with other users who do not know each other.

Note: the indications in this chapter, also dedicated to mobile devices, are potentially subject to major changes. The context is in fact more "chaotic" than the world of PlayStation and Xbox, also considering that Fortnite has been removed from the Play Store and App Store following some "disputes" relating to commissions withheld on the digital store side. How to activate cross platform Fortnite: PC

Now that you are aware of the situation on the console side, which is also the most "important" one in this area (in the sense that it is the one on which there is most to "discuss"), I would like to provide you with quick indications on what happens instead on PC.

Well, in this case there are no in-game options to enable/disable cross platform, but to be able to play this way with friends it usually is You must have an Epic Games account. This means, to try cross play with the console world (therefore PlayStation e Xbox), what you just need to do is add people you want to play with as friends (as explained in the preliminary chapter), which you can do directly fromEpic Games Launcher.

Once the latter has started, click on the icon Friends present in the upper right. After that, select the icon with the symbol +, write the profile name of your friend, select the account name involved and press the button ADD EPIC FRIEND. Great: now your friend will receive a friend request.

To try to play together with your friend (so as to see "in the field" if the platforms you use are actually compatible after the latest updates), start Fortnite and press on one of the + icons on the sides of your character, on the main screen of the game. At this point, select the name of your friend and try to see if you can actually create the group and enter Partita. In short, in certain contexts it is essentially better to "try it directly".
