Countdown E3 2019 - What do we expect from Nintendo Direct and the Threehouse?

"It's almost that time of year ..."

That time of year has almost arrived, heralds Nintendo on its official website dedicated toE3 2019. And indeed, the Los Angeles conference is precisely that time of year, the long-awaited one, overwhelmed, followed by gamers and simple enthusiasts from every corner of the world. Nintendo this year seems to promise many important revelations, during the classic conference that will take place Tuesday 11 June, 18 hours: 00, in the form of Nintendo Direct.

Last year, if you remember correctly, the Japanese company had entertained its audience with ben 45 minutes of live, announcing a roundup of upcoming titles for Nintendo Switch, and dedicating much of the programming to the main title of the presentation, Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. However, this year things seem to be getting even more interesting.

During this year's E3 we would actually have expected a large space dedicated to one of the company's longest-running and most fruitful franchises: we are talking about Pokémon, than with the next Sword and Shield are preparing to debut the titles of the main series on Nintendo Switch. The announcement of the eighth generation chapters, moreover, had been successfully launched last February, but nothing in the following months was then officially disclosed neither by Nintendo nor by The Pokémon Company. Titles that lie ahead, therefore, with something very conspicuous in store for fans, since it was even chosen to make a special Pokémon Direct just a few days before the live E3.

But what awaits us, then, during this Nintendo Direct which already presents itself in the name of the absence of Pokémon?

The most anticipated titles at E3 2019

Despite the lack of Pokémon (at least as far as the Direct presentation is concerned), Game Freak it may actually reveal some new information about the project it is currently working on. It is about Town, a new RPG about which not much is known yet, except that it will probably offer the public relatively different combat dynamics than those introduced in the Pokémon titles. We know, however, that its launch window is still confirmed for 2019, and for this very reason we expect some dedicated in-depth information to be released at the Los Angeles conference.

In addition to Game Freak, a great presence that we absolutely expect to find is that of Platinum Games. Bayonetta 3, after that mysterious teaser trailer that nothing has shown to tell the truth, is back in the limbo of silence. To date, in fact, Platinum Games has not yet revealed even a minute of gameplay, even if some rumors have already stirred the waters for some time, foretelling that, soon, new details could finally emerge on the surface. And not only then would E3 be the perfect stage for such important updates, but also to find out a few more details about it Astral Chain, interesting action game led by Takahisa Taura as game director. The Nintendo Switch exclusive is scheduled for release on August 30th, so it will likely be not only admirable during Direct, but also played live during Nintendo Threehouse immediately following.

Among the titles in the program there will also be (and presumably) not even Luigi's Mansion 3 and the new chapter of Animal Crossing. As for Luigi's Mansion 3 in fact, we remind you that just recently the title received the classification in South Korea, and this would suggest the possible and long-awaited release of the release date on the occasion of Direct E3. Not to mention that, some time ago, the official release date, which the site confirmed for July 19, 2019, would have been revealed by mistake by an online retailer in the United Kingdom.

The same fate had also befallen Animal Crossing, of which Nintendo, however, has not yet released even the final name. Already jokingly pre-announced last September 2018 through an easter egg dedicated to the character of Fuffi (or with his introduction in the Super Smash Bros. Ultimate roster) the new chapter of the franchise would be expected to be released within a generic 2019 - even if the UK retailer placed it on release more specifically on September 13th. For some time now, therefore, rumors have been rumored about the release of new updates and details on the Japanese life simulator, and it is for this reason that in all probability something about it will actually be told live from Los Angeles.

Another great strong point of the live presentation will obviously be the remake of The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening, a graphically renewed edition but always faithful to the classic published on Game Boy back in 1993. It is not at all excluded that other images taken from the title and, among other things, what we are all actually really waiting for: the release date, which is also currently confirmed again with a generic 2019. A few small possibilities, moreover, could ignite the hope that Nintendo will reveal further a new chapter of Zelda, since some time has passed since the release of the very successful chapter of Breath of the Wild. The remake, which therefore sees the light within this year, could work as a lucky premise for an awaited new title in the main saga, in the wake of what was the masterpiece released at the launch of Nintendo Switch.

Furthermore, another name that we feel like making is Fire Emblem: Three Houses, the next unborn child in the turn-based strategic saga by Intelligent Systems. During the last Direct of February a trailer was in fact released dedicated, a video that revealed a lot of information and salient aspects of the plot, as well as the release date scheduled for July 26. It is therefore not to be excluded that during the E3 Direct, as well as during the live broadcast of Nintendo Threehouse, may be shown to the public some other details about the title that will officially debut the saga on the Switch - perhaps through some gameplay videos.

Among the other titles on which it is possible to bet the guaranteed presence, we also mention: Daemon X Machina (first revealed during Nintendo's E3 2018 presentation and made available briefly with a demo), the exclusive Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3: The Black Order (currently confirmed in release on July 19 and, in all likelihood, available at the demo playable directly at the fair) DOOM Eternal, Wolfenstein: Youngblood, FIFA 20, Fortnite (with the Summer Block Party) and Trine 4: The Nightmare Prince. But that's not all: Nintendo, according to some rumors, would really have many aces up its sleeve, to play during the live broadcast from the Los Angeles kermesse, and the list of presentations could thus significantly lengthen.

Great absences, mysterious titles and new indie games

Pokémon in itself can be defined as a great absence of the Direct E3 2019, but since the direct broadcast yesterday was dedicated to this brand, we can still expect to see something in preview during the Los Angeles fair, during the direct of Nintendo Threehouse.

For this reason, the real big absentee will be Metroid Prime 4, another highly anticipated Nintendo exclusive. Already announced in the past 2017 edition of E3, due to various internal vicissitudes of the Japanese company and the software house that was initially entrusted with the development (i.e. Bandai Namco Studios), its official presentation has been hopelessly postponed to a date yet to be decided - and unfortunately it may take even longer than expected. At the moment, in fact, the development of the project seems to have started completely from scratch, and even the simple wait for a presentation video can be relatively long.

Despite this, Nintendo seems to have plans to reveal a lot of titles during the event. It had already been openly stated by the company itself, in fact, that the main purpose of this Direct will be precisely to announce new titles to be released within this fiscal year and to disclose new information and details on those previously presented video games. So many others are on the way mysterious titles, more than 20 according to the latest rumors and recent rumors that also involve the well-known GameStop chain. In these still secret titles we could find some new kits for Nintendo Labo, completely exclusive games or even some remastered and porting of old franchises already present on other platforms.

If we wanted to further lengthen the list, however, we should not forget either the slice of the market that has jumped into the mobile world, and not even the many indie games that have regularly appeared on the hybrid console since launch. On the occasion of the Nintendo Direct of E3 2019, then, new products could be revealed that will end up enriching the catalog of mobile app, alongside Pokémon GO, Animal Crossing: Pocket camp and Fire Emblem Heroes (recently banned from the Belgian market) and the recently announced Pokémon Masters, as well as a substantial roundup of indie titles which instead will end up expanding the range of purchases on Nintendo eShop.

And the new versions of the console?

As for the alleged new versions of the console we have no confirmation at the moment, indeed, we would even speak of real denials. Not on the fact that new successors of the hybrid car are not currently in planning and / or development, beware, but on the fact that these may be prematurely shown during the Los Angeles conference. However, if you want to read some speculation about it, some time ago we made a rich in-depth study on the eligible Mini version of Nintendo Switch.
