Cyberpunk 2077: sales have covered costs, the company goes down on the stock market

cyberpunk 2077 has been available for 24 hours now (10 December) and the Polish development house, CD Projekt RED, is experiencing particularly agitated hours, both from a positive and a negative point of view. As most reviews around the world have pointed out, Cyberpunk 2077 proved to be a great game, but only when played on PlayStation 4 Pro and Xbox One X, or on the next generation consoles PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X / S. Unfortunately on the basic versions of the Sony and Microsoft consoles (PS4 fat and Xbox One) the title has absolutely negative performance, so much so that many newspapers have even advised against its purchase.

Due to these problems, related not only to the graphics performance of the title but also to countless bugs in the code, the launch of Cyberpunk 2077 resulted in a stock market decline by CD Projekt RED: As of December 4, the share price of the Polish developer house was PLN 443 (Polish zloty), while now it is around 313 PLN. The previous time low reached by the cost of shares of CD Projekt RED was equal to 460,6 PLN.

Fortunately, when played on PS4 Pro or Xbox One X the situation improves dramatically and it is possible to play Cyberpunk 2077 in an acceptable way. The best, in the console field, can be obtained by playing the title in a backward compatible version on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X / S, while there will still be a wait for the version of the game dedicated exclusively to the new Sony and MIcrosoft consoles. The RPG is still of the highest level, despite the numerous problems (which at least on the new generation consoles have been largely solved through a patch already available), and this allowed the developers to already fully cover the costs of development and the marteting campaign, as officially announced from CD Projekt RED itself:

- total development expenditures related to the game, and
- the game's marketing and promotional costs borne by the Company - either already incurred or anticipated for the remainder of 2020.
