Demon's Souls - Guide to bosses and how to defeat them

The funniest part of Demon's Souls remains, without a doubt, the battle with the bosses. Yet sometimes it is difficult to understand what the right strategy is: that's why we come to your aid with this guide to the game's bosses Bluepoint games where we will not explain step by step what to do, but we will give you some advice to facilitate you.

Hoping that the guide will be useful to you, we refer you to our specific section of Demon's Souls, containing several insights on the title.

Before leaving you to the text, we remind you that in the following lines you may find some major or minor spoilers on Demon's Souls, regarding some playful sections and the narrative sector. We therefore advise you to continue carefully before completing the game in its entirety.

Boss # 1: Phalanx (Boletaria Palace 1-1)

The first boss you will encounter in the game will be Phalanx, a sort of ooze surrounded by smaller oozes, all with shields. It won't be necessary to defeat the smaller ones to advance, but it will help you find out so you can attack it. These oozes are weak to fire, so use Turpentine and Fire Bombs like that.

Boss # 2: Armored Spider (Stonefang Tunnel 2-1)

The first time you change Archstone, you can collide with this terrible Armored Spider. to defeat him, you will have to dodge fireballs, cobwebs and paws of various kinds, until you get close to the enemy. Then continue to attack him from the front and parry his blows, until he starts spitting out a flammable liquid. Back off in that case and start over.

Boss # 3: Referee (Shrine of Storms 4-1)

You can defeat him by attacking him from above with spells or ranged weapons, or go down and attack him from the front (dodging his attacks). After a few attacks it will drop, and you can attach it to the head. To unlock the dedicated trophy, however, you will have to attack and kill it from a distance.

Boss # 4: False Idol (Latria Tower 3-1)

Before you can clash with the False Idol, you will need to climb the tower from the right side and kill the enemy they are praying to: if you don't, the False Idol will be continuously revived. After, you can fight it: beware that it can teleport and create clones to distract you (the real enemy will shoot bigger soul arrows). However, be careful of the magic traps, which can block you, often use the columns to hide, so in the case of stun you will still not take the frontal attack.

Boss # 5: Leechmonger (Valley of Corruption 5-1)

It will wait for you at the bottom of a well, and then it will leave you many ways to go to kill it, attack it from above or go down to kill it melee. The enemy is weak to fire.

Boss # 6: Knight of the Tower (Boletaria's Palace 1-2)

The second boss of this area will be decidedly more aggressive than the previous one: to defeat him you will have to attack him, dodging his attacks, on the ankles. Once blue lights start coming out of those, he'll fall on his back and you can attach him to your head. However, we advise you to first clean the areas above, full of archers who could annoy and kill you.

Boss # 7: Old Hero (Shrine of Storms 4-2)

It is a giant human with an equally giant sword and an equally large malus: he is blind. We advise you to equip the thief's ring so as not to be found, so as to make the right attacks and retreat as soon as it begins to attack him.

Boss # 8: Stormlord (Shrine of the Storms 4-3)

Let's talk about the archdemon of this archstone. Before making it arrive, however, you will have to defeat the manta rays that turn over it with a bow (also because if they remained they would attack you during the boss fight). To start the battle you will have to take the Queen of the Storm, a unique sword that will have a very useful attack against this enemy.

Boss # 9: Flamelurker (Stonefang tunnel 2-2)

Weak to magic, so if you are a wizard it will be an easy match. If not, you will have to aim for block and dodge, as it will attack you in a powerful way.

Boss # 10: Dragon God (Stonefang Tunnel 2-3)

Archfiend of this world, he's a puzzle boss. Here's what you need to do:

  • Go right and destroy the rubble while dodging his punches.
  • Go to the Ballista on the right and shoot it
  • Follow the road to go to the other side to the second Ballista.
  • Once you use both, it will fall and you can attack it on the head

If you use the Hands of God weapon, you will also unlock a trophy.

Boss # 11: Man Eater (Latria Tower 3-2)

You will have to defeat two Man Eaters in this phase. The first gargoyle, flying, will approach the battlefield. Attack it to maximize damage, as a second will come later. Bow and magic work very well if you want to attack them in midair.

Boss # 12: Old Monk (Torre di Latria 3-3)

Archfiend of this world, it's a very easy boss fight if played offline. If not, it could be controlled by a real player, and everything will then depend on how the player uses it. In case you face him offline, you just have to be careful when he summons 5 yellow orbs: in that case, keep your distance and avoid them.

Boss # 13: Penetrator (Boletaria's Palace 1-3)

Equipped with a long sword and very fast indeed. Use the statues in the area to hit him in the hips. If you have unlocked Biorr, you can ask him for help. This boss will only be accessible after defeating one of the archdemons - we suggest the Dragon God, the Storm Lord or the Old Monk.

Boss # 14: Rotten Colossus (Valley of Corruption 5-2)

Approach and hit him with fire attacks. Dodge his attacks and watch out for explosions (which will cover you in dirt and not make you see well).

Boss # 15: Astraea-Garl (Valley of Corruption 5-3)

This archdemon will not fight with you: Garl Vinland will take his place, and he will be very strong indeed. To kill him, you'll have to either defeat Garl quickly (causing Astraea to kill herself), or else dodge Garl constantly and just attack Astraea. In the second case, you will unlock a trophy.

Boss # 16: False King (Boletaria Palace 1-4)

The fight against King Arlan, as well as the archdemon of the palace. Fast and powerful both close and at range (with magic), it will make very devastating AoE explosions. It can also suck your soul level, so don't get caught.

Boss # 17: Ancient (Nexus)

Very easy as Boss Fight: kill him to take you to the final choice of Demon's Souls.
