Dishonored: Has the Series Been Canceled? Arkane clarifies

As some of you will remember, a couple of years ago lead designer Ricardo Bare, during an interview with VG247.com, stated that the series Dishonored had been paused and that at that time there were no plans for the future of the license plate series Arkane Studios.

I can't say definitively what could happen in the future, anything could happen, but Dishonored is on hiatus for now.

Two years after those statements, the co-creative director Dinga Bakaba, during a recent interview with IGN Middle East, took a small step back by stating that the series has not been put aside, but that the story told in the chapters produced so far is over:

It was interesting to do and all, but the rumors that we put intellectual property aside are slightly exaggerated and stem from a misunderstanding. Whatever happens from here on out, that Dishonored story is complete. This is the best and most honest answer we can give to our fans. For us, on the other hand, it was strange to make that sequel because it was something we had never done before, but that does not change our approach which is that of a studio that does not link its name to that of a single. Intellectual property.

In a nutshell, the series has not been canceled, but at the same time there seems to be no willingness on the part of the developers to continue the project with further chapters. At least for now.
