GTA 6: Is Rockstar working on a new AI for the next chapter?

GTA 6: Is Rockstar working on a new AI for the next chapter?

It seems that Rockstar Games has filed a patent created specifically for the management of artificial intelligence in the company's future titles, including the expected GTA 6. The next Grand Theft Auto so it could have a total and more realistic overhaul of the NPCs that will make them interact more naturally within the game map.

The patent in question speaks of a technology that aims at improving the reaction and intervention of artificial intelligence according to the inputs it receives. You will have seen how the reactions and animations of secondary characters can be identical to each other, thus breaking the immersion and illusion of realism that the developers try so hard to build around you. The constructs for the proper functioning of NPCs within a video game can be more or less complex, mainly depending on hardware and software limitations. With this new method of virtual navigation, developers aim to overcome these limitations in order to be able to create a world that is certainly more realistic and immersive.

The patent in question specifies how the vehicles will be used by artificial intelligence and how each of the non-player characters would have unique and specific characteristics compared to all the others in this one. It will therefore be possible to simulate an even more realistic traffic situation than previous Rockstar Games titles. For example, if there is a chase along a certain road, the NPCs will avoid taking it and will try to stay away from it, taking other alternative routes to get to their destination.

That this system can be used for other titles of Take-Two Interactive, as well as for Rockstar? Unfortunately it would seem that this is not possible. The signatures on the patent are those of Simon Parr and David Hynd, inventors of this new technology related to artificial intelligence, who are, respectively: the principal AI programmer and the associate director of technology on behalf of Rockstar Games. This means that surely this innovation will be used for the next titles developed by this team, among which there will most likely be the next GTA 6.

In the patent it is not directly named Grand Theft Auto 6 but these characteristics very much reflect those related in general to the game world of GTA. Most likely, therefore, this new AI management system will probably be brought to the next chapter in development, as well as it can also be integrated with other Rockstar Games IPs in the future.
