Harry Potter Wizards Unite: Niantic reveals the first details on the gameplay

Niantic revealed the first details on the expected gameplay Harry Potter: Wizards Unite, the upcoming Pokémon GO-style AR game highly anticipated by all Wizarding World fans. Co-produced and co-developed with WB Games San Francisco, Harry Potter Wizards Unite is part of Portkey Games, the label completely dedicated to creating new mobile experiences and video games based on the original stories of JK Rowling.

In Harry Potter: Wizards Unite we will be recruited into a Secret Task Force to investigate and contain a mysterious calamity, responsible for bringing to light Artifacts, creatures, characters and even memories of the past, called Foundables. Our task will be to contain the spread of creatures and objects, in an attempt to keep the magical world hidden from the eyes of Muggles. Memories will be scattered around the real world in various locations, including parks, campuses, bookstores, monuments, and so on. Each foundable found and brought back to safety will allow you to earn unique rewards.

The pokestops featured in Pokemon Go will be replaced here by Inns which will return the magical energy to the players (useful for casting spells). They will also unlock some magical items that can be used to create potions and grant access to some portals in AR that will transport us to the iconic places of the film saga. Fortresses, on the other hand, will function a bit like gyms, allowing players to compete in real-time multiplayer battles or participate in events that sound very similar to Pokemon GO raids. Harry Potter: Wizards Unite will arrive for iOS and Android devices during 2019. Pre-registrations are now available on Google Play.
