Developed by Koei Tecmo Games, more precisely from Team Ninja and W-Force, this title is a prequel of the appreciated The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. As you may have noticed in the trailer at the top of the article and the presentation video at the bottom, this Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity delves into the war that happened 100 years earlier the events narrated in the Nintendo game. The title of Koei Tecmo is therefore preparing to reveal this mysterious background of the saga, with its relationships and its secrets.

In terms of gameplay and graphic style, we can obviously notice one big inspiration to The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. Everything is brought into the genre mosou, to transform certain characteristics such as combos or items which are heavily taken from the 2017 game for Wii U and Switch. We can then identify a certain focus on fiction of the product, this time written in close agreement with the Nintendo team dedicated to the Zelda franchise. In the characteristics promised by the two companies we find things how to solve environmental puzzles, unlock weapons and skills, build material, visit the shop to get unique items, as well as use the powers of the Sheikah Slate. Furthermore, they have already confirmed support for the Amiibo, with maybe some new statuette created just for the occasion. Finally, the pre-order bonus digital for the game is an exclusive weapon that the cooks of Breath of the Wild will remember very well.
