Nioh 2 Remastered: The Complete Edition - Review, the ultimate Nioh experience

2020 has been a more than complicated year for the whole world, and in many cases the gaming sector has also suffered. However, in the first part of the year, the new action RPG of Koei Tecmo e Team Ninja he managed to get out on the market without too many hitches - at least digitally - and to present himself to the public with all his brutality. Over the course of the year we had the opportunity to talk extensively about the production in the review not only of the main title, but also of the first, second and third DLC, and even before the calendar marks a year from the release of the original game, here to arrive for the new Sony flagship a version entirely dedicated to her. We are talking about Nioh 2 Remastered: The Complete Edition, enhanced version of the acclaimed second chapter coming to PlayStation 5, which also includes within it all DLCs we told you about. As with the Nioh remastered, you can also take advantage of your PlayStation 2 saves on PlayStation 4 in the Nioh 5 remastered one.

A matter of honor

As you can imagine, the title that is proposed to us is exactly what we played less than a year ago, with the small difference that in this case - given the presence of the DLC right away - the types of weapons that during the year we learned to appreciate and love only at a later time, they will already be available to us from the creation of the character and from the first tutorial. For those who have never approached Nioh 2, remember that it is a soulslike action RPG set in feudal Japan and which, like its predecessor, makes a great use of historical figures really existed, as well as gods luoghi and of all the demonic and spiritual mythology typical of Japanese culture. In this adventure we will play the role of Hide, a half-demon with an unknown past, but destined for great things ... including being in close contact with none other than Oda Nobunaga.

The guidelines marked by Nioh have been followed and expanded, inserting a totally customizable character: it starts from the appearance, and then moves on to the build dedicated to weapons and armor, up to the great novelty introduced, or the Yokai powers. These ensure that demons are not only meat for slaughter, but also sources from which to draw devastating moves for use in combat. And again, the Onmyo Magic returns, the Ninjutsu abilities, the bonuses given by the Kodama, and so on and so forth. Although the features have increased in number, Nioh 2 has come out of it much leaner than its predecessor, and the ability to take advantage of supernatural powers has somehow made players' lives a little easier (thanks to a couple of post-launch balances).

A new life

Nioh 2 Remastered, as already mentioned, was created to maximize the gaming experience, trying to make the generational leap that exploits the power of PlayStation 5. Even if the treatment suffered by the game is the same as the first Nioh, clearly the actual jump was less (even if graphically the two titles were quite similar, even with some recycling of assets too many). The enhancements are focused on three fundamental aspects, such as speed of uploads graphic quality he fps. The first is guaranteed, and marks one of the biggest universal differences for those who will enjoy Nioh 2 Remastered, while the two remaining features will depend on which mode you choose from the general settings.

Those available are: 4k mode, which enjoys high definition 4k resolution graphics (only supported by 4k screens), the 120 fps mode, which offers a higher frame rate to make animations even smoother (also in this case applicable only to screens that support them), and the more "unfortunate" PS5 Console Standard Mode, which optimizes the graphics capabilities of the Sony console for viewing on standard screens. The 4K and 120 fps are both of high quality, and consequently you will hardly be able to notice the differences between them (for example, if you opt for the performance, the graphic detail will still be excellent by the standards of the game. ), however if you do not have screens that support them, Standard Mode manages to provide a fair compromise, even if in that case it is difficult to really feel the flavor of the next gen.
