Fans of Red Dead Redemption 2 they are asking Rockstar Games to create single player DLC for the beloved western title. Rockstar has already stated that it is not interested in developing Red Dead Redemption 2 DLC, but that hasn't stopped fans from trying to change the developer's mind. Gamers have in fact come to resurrect an old petition just to move the hearts of the software house.
Rockstar has been incredibly successful over the past decade, despite only releasing one brand new game in the last generation. Much of this success comes from Grand Theft Auto V in online mode, which has brought strong revenues to the studio's coffers, giving more incentive to flesh out the online modes of their games, rather than creating new single-player DLCs. Prior to GTA V, Rockstar had made several DLCs for Grand Theft Auto IV and Red Dead Redemption. The developer of open world titles had even promised a single player DLC for Grand Theft Auto V, but discarded it to focus on GTA Online and the development of Red Dead Redemption 2. However, fans are unearthing an old Change.org petition, asking Rockstar to consider a Red Dead Redemption 2 story expansion. This, while a rather old petition, never met its goal. But only 3 days ago surpassed 5.000 supporters: an incredible result, considering that last June 2020, the petition had only 300 signatures. The petition has however still it needs around 2.300 signatures to achieve its goal, which does not mean that there is still a long way to go to have an official confirmation. If nothing else, though, this shows that the hunger for this DLC hasn't gone away.
Right now, Rockstar is busy with the next Grand Theft Auto, and most likely won't be back to developing Old West titles for a long time. However, hope is the last to die, and who knows that the great love of the fans can not shake the waters and lead to the arrival of a new DLC.
