The film comes after the last chapter of the first film series Resident Evil: The Final Chapter. The director of the production is Johannes Roberts, and will be released on September 3, 2021. The film will be distributed by Sony Pictures. For now, not much is known about the film, but the plot should be much more faithful to that presented in video games. It will be set in Raccoon City in 1998 during the outbreak of the virus pandemic Umbrella Corporation and will retrace the past of chris e Claire Redfield. Among the interpreters are Robbie amell (Chris Redfield), Kaya scodelario (Claire Redfield), Avan Jogia (Leon S. Kennedy), Donal Logue (Chief Irons), Hanna Jhon-Kamen (Jill Valentine) e Lilly Gao (Ada Wong).

It is not the only live action project coming for the brand, in fact also Netflix is producing two Resident Evil TV series set in different timelines. In short, the series is experiencing a new youth, both as regards the videogame part and the cinematic transposition and intended for streaming platforms. Hopefully, these new incarnations will be able to do justice to the hit series Capcom, which after a few videogame chapters not appreciated by all fans, has been reborn thanks to the excellent Resident Evil 7 and to the next Resident evil village, to be released on 7 May 2021. This new film adaptation also aims to set a new beginning, proposing atmospheres and themes closer to the first chapters of the videogame series.
