SUPERHOT VR - Review

    SUPERHOT VR - Review

We loved and adored it in its original version, surprised and very amazed by how a simple basic idea like the one that characterizes SUPERHOT gameplay can be damn functional and fun on screen. The independent title of SUPERHOT Team it later arrived on our virtual reality devices for PC, focusing more closely on what is actually the real core of the original title's plot (and I'll save you spoilers on all of this, should you still play it). SUPERHOT VR finally arrived on PlayStation 4, obviously taking advantage of the Sony home viewer, and the consents were immediately great. What are the differences from the original title? And above all, how does this little gem behave on the Japanese flagship console?

SUPERHOT VR - ReviewI am not exaggerating if I answer the second question with "excellently". We will find ourselves starting our experience sitting in front of an outdated PC, the model of which will be easily recognized by those who have played the original game. All we have to do is look for the floppy ... wherever it is, insert it in the car, put on the virtual VR helmet that will be above our head, and leave with our carnage of red men. The purpose of the various levels of SUPERHOT VR is always the same: to exterminate all the enemies before they are the ones to kill us. The basic difference is that in this game we will be fixed in one position, we will not be able to walk, but only to turn our heads in all directions and use our hands using the PS Move to hit enemies, collect and use weapons, but also throw objects or use our irons to deflect or shred stray bullets. Of course, in addition to moving our heads, we can also bend and tilt… and yes, you will feel like a skilled "Neo" of the Matrix. How many times have you imitated the famous protagonist while dodging imaginary bullets in slow motion? This time you will do it again, but with virtual bullets that you can actually see.

In terms of physical gameplay everything else remains unchanged, where time passes faster every time we move or start a shot, and where if we are defeated we will have to start a scene from the beginning. Mind you: "scene", not "scenery"! Each scene - or situation - from a certain point on will be formed by two or more scenarios to be completed in succession and without ever dying, completing them step by step, and grabbing a black pyramid that will appear in front of us to start the next one. When a series of scenes is completed, however, we will return to our comfortable chair, take off the viewer, and continue to play by inserting another floppy, which in the meantime will have appeared in another position. Even in this very small feature, the development team has been very creative! Added value is the longevity of the title, which calculating the current standard of the duration of the titles for VR is decidedly good.

SUPERHOT VR - ReviewThe difficulty of the title is medium-high, not only because a very high level of identification is required - the primary purpose of SUPERHOT VR, given that it is PERFECT to be played with virtual reality - but also because on several occasions the time we will have to react to the hits of the enemies it will be very little, and it will also be necessary to study which actions to perform first and at what moment. all this while making sure we never waste shots, and to aim where the "redman" will be when the shot reaches him. For the more experienced, who without any problems I can define authentic masochists, there is also the Hardcore mode! In this one the bad guys will move faster, the shots of the weapons will be limited, and as if that were not enough a single bullet will be able to destroy your weapon if you use it to defend yourself! If you want to venture into this challenge I don't blame you, once you start playing you don't want to stop, and the phrase “last attempt” will be erased from your mind with every single retry. The only flaws that can be found with the title is a serious difficulty in throwing objects, and a calibration that in very rare cases "devalues". Without a doubt, however, we can say that with SUPERHOT VR we are facing one of the best titles ever released - at least on the podium - for Sony's virtual reality device.
