Recently the Japanese portal 4gamer.net published an interesting article that analyzes the year that is about to end (finally ...) and focuses on what can you expect from the gaming industry in 2021. The text contains many quotes from numerous staff members belonging to Koei Tecmo (Japanese holding company born in 2009 from the union of the Koei and Tecmo video game development houses), among which are the words of Fumihiko Yasuda, Team Ninja Brand Manager, who previously worked on the series Ninja Gaiden e Nioh:
In February we will release Nioh 2 Remastered: Complete Edition and The Nioh Collection, containing all the material from the Nioh series, for PlayStation 5. I hope this will be an opportunity for people who have not been able to play these titles on PS4. and will therefore be able to do so soon on PS5. We are also preparing several announcements of new Team Ninja titles in 2021, so expect more news soon!
The versions dedicated to PlayStation 5 - the next generation console of Sony - of Nioh and Nioh 2 will be released next 5 February. Lately, Yasuda himself had expressed himself precisely on the Nioh series, stating that there are currently no plans to develop a third chapter:
The development of the Nioh series has come to a lull and there are several projects whose full-scale production will begin in 2021. I intend to change my development style to adapt to current lifestyle changes, as well as focus on new titles.
Nioh, originally presented under the title of Oni, is a videogame belonging to the genre of third-person action and was published in 2017 for PlayStation 4 and Windows PC. The title is distinguished by the rigid and uncompromising mechanics typical of soulslike.
