The Elder Scrolls Online: Greymoor - Review, Bethesda takes us back in time

Another round, another expansion, The Elder Scrolls Online comes back with the new story titled Greymoor. Of course, by now, the work of Bethesda on the game is to be considered monumental, given that it is never easy to survive all these years with great success within the videogame market, always evolving and constantly changing. However this time you will not find the classic review, given that by now in many respects the title is more than consolidated, we will therefore analyze what the new expansion offers, both in terms of content and play. As fans will know, each expansion takes the player to explore additional regions, this time it's back to the icy north but well 1000 years before the known events di Skyrim, ready to discover all the mysteries that lurk among these dangerous lands.

To start

The initial sequences of The Elder Scrolls Online: Greymoor they are quite rhythmic from many points of view, they almost seem to come out of the canons of classic MMOs offering, at least during the prologue, almost a single player experience. After a short time and after the initial phase, the call from Lyris Titanborn will come, who will inform you of what is happening within the region. Vampires and other dark forces are about to emerge, strengthened by their magic and their power. Although set 1000 years before the events of Skyrim, again the men of the north will join forces to stop this ignoble threat. The whole story runs on already predefined tracks, leading the player to find himself in front of places already seen, but under a new guise. Bethesda also thought well of too insert, in addition to the aforementioned vampires, also werewolves and witches, giving the player a good number of enemies to face.

However, despite the interesting plot ideas that enrich the entire universe, it did not seem that the team wanted to unbutton themselves too much, releasing more or less already assimilated information. The real plus as far as the narrative is concerned is given by the collectibles, but we will talk about these later.

What The Elder Scrolls Online: Greymoor introduces

It will take you about 15-20 hours to complete the entire expansion, but Greymoor also takes care of introducing new mechanics such as Antiquities, and the magical storms called Harrowstorm. For the first, it is a question of examining some areas to recover various hidden treasures, which do nothing but increase the very solid lore of the entire game universe. The second, on the other hand, is nothing more than a public event, dedicated to all interested parties. Basically you can join a large number of players to eliminate a great threat - which can range from the classic boss to the hordes - in a cooperative way.

If public events are easily accessible, for Antiquities you will first have to go to the Antiquarians Circle a Solitude and talk to Numidian Truth. The latter will give you theAntiquarian's Eye, so you can find these ancient treasures in all regions.

Conclusions

The Elder Scrolls Online: Greymoor offers nothing that hasn't been seen or metabolized before. Sure, the introduction of vampires brings some changes, but nothing particularly upsetting. The missions also offer a few hours of carefree fun, perfectly in line with all the work done by the team over the years. Furthermore, the expansion is less dispersive than the previous ones, bringing the player inside a sort of narrative funnel, however well done and never banal.

The feeling is that the team wants to continue to expand when done, regardless of the fact that two years ago, during E3, the new The Elder Scroll was presented with a fleeting trailer. This content is not only aimed at old fans, however, as it is a great opening even for those who have never had any contact with the product. In case you are undecided, our advice is to take advantage of the free missions, so as to get an idea firsthand of the quality of the product.
