The new Battlefield could skip the current gen and land directly on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Scarlett

The new Battlefield could skip the current gen and land directly on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Scarlett

Although news of this type no longer makes you jump from the chair, given the almost perennial cyclicality of the titles in question, it seems that a new chapter in the shooter saga Battlefield is in development at the studios of Electronic Arts, But that is not all. The title in question, according to the company's financial documents, will be released in an expected period of time between April 2021 and March 2022 for next generation consoles, namely: PlayStation 5, Xbox Scarlett and PC.

The title will be the successor of the current work now in its fifth chapter and, although it does not yet have an official name, it should point to numerous innovations that only a new generation console can guarantee thanks to the technical apparatus mounted inside. From what can be deduced from this statement, however, it seems that the current PS4 and Xbox One consoles will be boycotted by the new title. Situation that, in our opinion, it seems difficult to think given the catchment area now present on the current consoles. In all likelihood, the game will therefore be a cross-gen between the various machines, with unique and therefore scalable features for future consoles at the expense of a well-established technical system for the current generation ones.

Much will depend on the release period, as given the possibility of arriving also during 2022, with a user we imagine discreetly started on the new consoles, the title will therefore be able to decide to greet the current gen in favor of the next, giving the ber served to the eighth generation. These are the words of EA:

“Battlefield's goal for fiscal 2022 is to truly leverage an already installed base for new consoles. Releasing it next year, with a still small installed base, would not do justice to the potential of the game and therefore this is part of the causes that push us to move it to fiscal year 2022 ”.
