Valheim - Guide on how to sail, build and upgrade boats

Valheim, game produced by Coffee Stain of which you can find our preview at the following link, it is a survival experience set in Scandinavian mythology, and the famous Viking boats could certainly not miss. Boats are really essential means that will allow you to cross seas and waterways to access unexplored areasis. There are simple ships, while others are more expensive and complicated to build. In this guide we will give you all the information you need to better navigate navigation.

The following text may contain narrative and playful spoilers on Valheim, the latest work by Iron Gate AB and published by Coffee Stain Studios. We therefore advise you to continue carefully in order to avoid any major and minor spoilers, which could undermine your play experience.

Raft: 20 pieces of wood, 6 pieces of leather and 10 pieces of resin

The Raft boat, or raft, it will be the first boat you will build in Valheim. This is obviously the simplest and cheapest to manufacture. The materials you will need you will be able to find them quite quickly, and as for wood you will have plenty of them by looking around.

To get the leather, go to the meadows to hunt for wild boars. Alternatively, there is also the possibility that you can find it in the chests that are around, but by killing the boars you will certainly do it sooner.

The resins you need can be obtained by defeating enemy creatures Greydwarf. They can actually be found in many areas, but are more common in Forest Black. These beings will hunt you at night, which means you don't have to do a lot of work tracking them down. Additionally, a killed Greydwarf has a high chance of dropping resin, and since they usually never hunt alone, it shouldn't be too complicated to get everything you need quickly.

Obviously, to build the Raft you will also need a workbench, possibly nearby. We refer you to our dedicated guide. Take out the hammer and go to the Misc tab, then select Raft and put it in the water.

Karve: 30 pieces of fine wood, 10 deer skins, 20 pieces of resin and 80 bronze nails

The Karve ship is an upgrade to the Raft, or raft, and you'll need a workbench here too.

Bronze nails can be made in the forge. For details on how to build the forge, please refer to our dedicated guide.

Deer skins can be obtained by hunting deer in the meadows or in the Black Forest. As for boar skins, there is also the possibility that you can find them in the chests, but if you want to hurry, the hunt is the fastest solution.

As for fine wood, there are a couple of ways to get it. You can cut down birch or oak in the Meadows, but you will need the bronze ax to do so. An alternative, but less reliable, might be to recover some from shipwrecks around the Black Forest.

To put it in the water do as for the Raft, ie select the hammer, go to the Miscellaneous tab, select Karve and that's it.

Longship: 40 pieces of fine wood, 10 deer skins, 100 iron nails and 40 pieces of ancient bark

By upgrading the Karve you will get the Longship boat, beautiful but expensive, as for the others you will need a workbench.
