Amazon will continue to invest in video games, Andy Jessy confirms

Amazon has had a change of CEO just these days. Jeff Bezos, the one who founded the company in 1994, leaves his post to Andy Jassy, who wanted to talk about the company's Gaming sector, just the day before he was appointed to hold that position.

Andy Jassy, during the interview he had for Bloomberg, spoke wanted to talk about Amazon Game Studios. Despite the problems of the company's Gaming division, Jassy confirmed Amazon's intentions to continue investing in video game development and that, although there are no immediate results, he does not want to abandon this project, continuing to strive to aim for success, even if it will take longer than expected. His words on the matter were as follows:

Some companies take off in the first year and others take much longer. While we haven't consistently managed to succeed with Amazon Game Studios yet, I believe we can do it if we resist.

The interview in question dates back to a day before the change of CEO took place in the company, a fact that now gives further importance to the words released by Andy Jassy. Since the company threw itself into the gaming sector in 2012 it has produced two high-budget titles that have failed, however, and have been completely canceled. It is also important to say that Mike Frazzini, head of Amazon Game Studios, he never made a video game before he was put in charge of Amazon Game Studios and this lack was a major problem for his employees during the years of video game development. Despite everything Frazzini is however hopeful about the future of his division, stating the following: "We have learned and improved a lot along the way, myself included, and we will continue to do so". In all this he was not even named Amazon Moon, Amazon's cloud gaming service, still currently in Beta.

Amazon Game Studios is still hard at work making N, the MMORPG several times postponed and which currently has as a new release window this spring, while Crucible on the other hand, it was closed prematurely, even before exiting its development phase. At the moment, not much is known about it yet the MMO dedicated to The Lord of the Rings, on which just some information was leaked in November last year, which you can read about at this link.
