Away: Netflix cancels the series after just one season

Away, series launched on Netflix last month, did not receive the green light for one second season, as reported by Deadline. We still don't know much more about why Away was canceled, especially since it seemed to be one of the most popular products in the Netflix catalog having occupied the top ten of the most viewed series for several weeks. Probably Away had a very high production cost and, despite the success, it was not possible to financially support a new season given the presence of an actress of the caliber of Hilary Swank in the role of the protagonist.

The official synopsis of the series reads:

It is an epic, thrilling and moving drama and celebrates the incredible progress humans are able to make, as well as the personal sacrifices they have to endure along the way.

As she prepares to lead an international crew on the first mission to Mars, US astronaut Emma Green (Hilary Swank) must agree to abandon her husband (Josh Charles) and teenage daughter (Talitha Bateman) just when they need her most.

The journey into space becomes more and more lively and at the same time the relationships between the astronauts become complicated and the effects of the distance from loved ones left on Earth emerge. Away proves that success sometimes requires leaving home.
