Epic Games Store will also arrive on mobile devices in the future

Tim Sweeney, CEO of Epic Games Store, spoke in a recent interview about his intention to bring Epic Games Store even on iOS and Android devices. Sweeney also discussed the success of the online store (which had made GTA 5 available for free at the end of May), the difficulties encountered and the importance of cross-play, but what caught the most attention is what he said about the probable arrival of the store on mobile. Here are his words:

We would like to bring Epic Games Store to iOS in the future, and we will bring it to Android. We think it's a good way to help the industry move forward and it's another way that Epic, as a game developer, has built this audience around Fortnite and learned how to use a distribution platform on PC and Android. Now, as we have done with many things, from Unreal Engine to Epic online services, we are opening it up for all other developers to use in their games, and we are looking to serve the industry and provide a really cool alternative to the ecosystem.

This is not the first time the company thinks about a release of the store on mobile devices. In fact, it had already happened in December 2018, in which a launch on Android was hypothesized for 2019. Although this has not happened, the intention of Epic Games remains and we will probably see everything come true soon. All that remains is to wait for further news.
