The series of Silent Hill is one of the most popular in the gaming world. The disappointment in the players when Konami canceled the highly anticipated Silent Hills after its mind-blowing playable trailer, PT, it was in fact enormous. With its cancellation, and above all, with the separation of Hideo Kojima by the project, the chances of the arrival of a new Silent Hill were almost completely nullified. However, in a recent interview for BoJrayed by ALHub, the composer of the first Silent Hill, Akira Yamaoka, revealed that he has a big announcement to make, but which, however, cannot yet make it public. When asked about his upcoming projects, Yamaoka said:
Keeping in general terms, I think you will probably hear something this summer. Something new will be announced. I think it will be what everyone hopes to hear. But I cannot tell you more than what I am telling you.
While he clearly hasn't confirmed that a new chapter in the Silent Hill saga is in the works, it's hard to imagine his words referring to a completely different project. The interview focused mainly on his recent work for The Medium by Bloober Team, released last week, but this new statement doesn't seem to be related to the game, apparently. Bloober Team announced yesterday that it has already started work on its next horror project, but hasn't said anything about a new collaboration with Yamaoka.
At this point, all we can do is wait for more clues to be released by potential developers. Fans have been burned by the cancellation of PT, and have been calling for a new Silent Hill for a long time now. However, since that day many rumors have followed one another without leading to anything concrete. We just have to cross our fingers and hope that some news will arrive this summer in this sense, to find out even if Yamaoka, and why not, maybe even Kojima, are involved.
