On 15 December 2018, the winners of the European Film Awards, the awards of European film excellence, were announced.
The undisputed star of the evening is the black and white drama Cold War di Pawel Pawlikowski, which has won five awards including Best Film and Best Director. The Polish director dedicated the award to the memory of his parents, whose tormented love story the film is loosely based on.
