    Gravity Rush Remastered - Review

Gravity Rush is one of the few great titles released nearly four years ago designed and developed specifically for the portable device at home Sony PlayStation Vita, aimed at relaunching the same console but unfortunately failed to do so. The action RPG was directed by Keiichiro Toyama, written by Naoko Sato (known for also writing the series Siren and the first Silent Hill) and revolves around the story of the mysterious Cat and its spectacular ability to manipulate the force of gravity, which allows it to move in a unique way within all the beautiful settings.

    A bit of history

The charming and very blonde protagonist will wake up deprived of his memory inside Hekseville, a particular town characterized by a steampunk style, which experiences moments of panic caused by a sudden invasion of strange monsters called "sort of". The first thing that the protagonist will encounter on her journey when opening her eyes will be a detail black cat, which will initially appear to be the source of his power. Quickly overcome the first brief phase of confusion, the heroine will immediately begin to serve others, even a little clumsily helping the people of the pretty town, who will not immediately be ready to accept her, but on the contrary will treat her with great distrust. It will therefore take some time before we do that Cat is recognized as a heroine by all citizens of Hekseville, and he will have to carry out every task starting from the bottom, from the small things and trying in the meantime to build a small "hole" where he can live and rest. The story, far from obvious but sparkling and full of interesting characters to discover and appreciate, will flow all in all in a fairly read and will be explained to us through the use of comic strips made as always very well, perhaps even more so with this new remastered version and with some dialogues that yes, we will have to follow and read line by line and that will help us to learn more about the history and characteristics of some characters, also because the language spoken in the city is invented and it will not be well understood since at first glance it would seem to resemble French.

    Techniques and technicalities

Gravity Rush for those who have not played it is a title that surprises for the particular graphic choice in cell-shading, which according to Toyama stands out from the western trend towards photorealism. The title is actually a delight for the eyes especially thanks to the splendid porting work carried out by the now veterans BluePoint Games, carrying the version PS4 to have a fixed resolution a 1080p which allows a perfect and clear visualization of the comic strips and greatly enhances the beauty of the steampunk town. In comparison to the previous version on PlayStation Vita, this new makeover corrects heavy aliasing with the application of an anti-aliasing filter that cleans and gives us an almost always perfect image. But the great work of the boys of BluePoint Games not only allows the title to have a new level of graphics, but also raises it considerably in terms of gameplay which, due to the dynamics created solely to make the most of the potential of PSVita in some cases it was muddy and sometimes very discouraging. Instead for this new version we can safely tell you that if you decide to buy it you will have in your hands a title completely revised in this respect and adapted to the dynamics of the path di PS4, with a surprising effect because it is able to manage some chaotic situations that previously created significant moments of frustration. Furthermore, in the most advanced stages of the title when you have to quickly manage the gravitational situations that will quickly lead you to move to vertical and horizontal points of the screen, the change to the frame rate that will run will be felt. at all times of the game at 60 frames per second, even when you splash from one part of the setting to the other. This great graphic rendering not only improves the visual quality but rather improves above all the gameplay that thanks also to taking advantage of a larger screen will be very practical and will make even the toughest fights especially against huge bosses fantastic and electrifying.

    PS4 additions

The new version of Graivity Rush, not only adds refined touches in the graphics and gameplay, but perfectly integrates all the missions of the DLC come out on PSVita, dividing the main missions with the secondary ones that will appear on the map with differently colored icons. The trophies will also be the same as the basic version: 1 Platinum, 4 Gold, 10 Silver, 25 Bronze plus the 8 inserted with the various DLC. The conquest of most of the trophies is not impossible also because they will be obtained by completing the various chapters of the story mode or by defeating all sorts of monsters that will appear in front of our path, while the more challenging it will be to be able to maximize all the skills of Cat and complete the countless challenges that we will find along the ways of Hekseville. This new version also manages to convince, according to our point of view, because it has eliminated many architectural barriers due to the tight development based on dynamics PSVita, which tried to exploit the touch and the gyroscope of the laptop ensuring innovative dynamics but also at times difficult and cumbersome, which compared to the use of the pad of the PS4 instead they are much more fun, even if initially you will need a little practice, moving Cat mid-air between a fight, a slip and some object to retrieve will not always be child's play.

    CONCLUSIONS

Without a doubt the original version of Gravity Rush will remain a must for titles developed on PSVita, which certainly did not reach the due popularity and fame only because the home laptop Sony was not very lucky, but we assure you that the PS4 it is truly unmissable. We pay our compliments to BluePoint Games who in this case did a spectacular job redefining and bringing the title back to everyone's possibility thanks to impeccable graphics, simple and fun gameplay and the non-prohibitive price set by Sony a € 29.90, capable of projecting you with great impatience at the arrival of the second chapter of the saga.
