Lady and the Tramp - Review of the new Disney movie

Lady and the Tramp - Review of the new Disney movie

Lady and the Tramp is one of Disney's oldest films: the animated film was released in 1955 when most of us were not even in the thoughts of our parents, probably they were the children of the time since, for example, the mother of the writer is from the class of 1962. One history that has far exceeded fifty years of age: you might think that it has lost its "polish", and instead this is not the case at all, a sign that good stories endure indistinctly over time.

The story you remember, with a few small differences

Lady and the Tramp in this "live-action" he does not add anything to the plot of the animated film, except for some small changes in the connotation of the characters, such as the two owners of Lilli who are a "mixed" American couple (ie she with black skin and him with white skin), which was not very likely at the time.

Furthermore, one of Lilli's friends has changed connotations and has gone from a male dog to a female: banalities and trifles that do not affect the plot of the film in the slightest, which remains steadfast and focused on the story of Lilli and her life experience with mankind. Absent are the two Siamese cats who combined cooked and raw, making the blame fall on Lilli in the old animated film, but all in all you will not miss her.

From the streets to the house

Lady and the Vagabond is a story that deals with current issues like never before: it speaks to us of the different, of how we perceive those who live on the street - in this case Biagio, our "vagabond" - and how we see who is "rich" lives at home like Lilli.

The two talking dogs show us two sides of the same coin although in this film the most multifaceted of the characters seems to be Biagio himself, which compared to the original film in this remake is more articulated and complex - almost profound we could say - to the point that when you hear Justin Theroux lending him the voice in the story of his personal story you could leave room for a few tears. Teresa Thompson abandon the role of the Valkyrie of Avengers or the black clothes of the Man in Black to show us a courageous, enterprising and more self-confident Lilli than her animated namesake: a perfect voice that transmits emotions even through a digitized animal. In the role of Fido we find instead Sam Elliott, an actor who has always been able to move us and who does not disappoint even in the role of this good giant.

Roads and Families

Lady and the Tramp is a solid rock in a sea of novelties: although the film has shades that we could define modern compared to the original, it has nothing to envy to its previous incarnation and unlike other remakes Disney, as Dumbo o Aladdin that all in all upset the story at the end, here we remain like the past a bit like it happened The Lion Kingrespect for the past with a small glance towards the future. The film is very suitable for children, moreover it could raise several questions to the "differently young" who will watch it on Disney + arriving next March XNUMXth. If you missed it, this is certainly a good reason to get it back!
