Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales sold less than the 2018 prequel

Second Superdata, the game of Insomniac Games Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales managed to sell 663.000 digital copies between PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 in November 2020, making it one of the best-selling exclusive titles of the month. However, the figure is considerably lower than that obtained by 2018's Marvel's Spider-Man on PlayStation 4, which sold well 2,2 million digital copies during its launch period. The game was recently remastered for PlayStation 5 as part of the Ultimate Edition by Miles Morales.

From these market data we can see how one happened sales reduction of 70% compared to the chapter of Spider-Man released last 2018. The first chapter starring Peter Parker has in fact sold a whopping 2,2 million digital copies at the time of launch, which means that it has managed to sell roughly 1,53 million more copies than Marvel's Spider-Man Miles Morales. A rather unexpected result, especially if we think of the excellent critical and sales success obtained by the title released two years ago. We are sure, however, that this will not stop Insomniac Games from offering us a second main chapter of the adventures of the two Spider-Man that manages to overcome what was seen in the first two games starring Peter Parker and Miles Morales. Instead, according to the other sales figures for this month, Call of Duty: Black Ops - Cold War has been a great commercial success, selling 5,7 million copies digitally, a 7% increase over Black Ops 4. Also Assassin's Creed Valhalla attracted the attention of gamers, selling approximately 1,7 million digital copies in the same period.

It therefore seems that despite the great success, this new adventure dedicated to Miles Morales has not managed to capture the hearts of the players as the first chapter of the series, perhaps also thanks to the great difficulty in getting hold of a PlayStation 5.
