Nintendo Switch is in the middle of its life cycle according to Doug Bowser

Doug Bowser, President of Nintendo of America, is back to talk about the small hybrid console Nintendo Switch in a recent interview with the Polygon portal, where he stated, regarding the life cycle of the console: "We believe we are only halfway through the life cycle of the platform", when the question was raised about the possibility that a new model of Switch may soon be released on the market. Bowser also has rumors about a probable hardware upgrade of the console have been denied that should have given life to a model Switch Pro (or something similar), stating:

It's not something Nintendo is focusing on in the immediate future. The public attention on the Nintendo Switch and the Lite model is strong. We will continue to rely, in the near future, on both platforms and the content that will be published on them, because we believe that a symbiotic relationship between the two can make a real difference. This is why Nintendo Switch is so characterized on the market.

According to the NPD Group, Nintendo Switch sold over 1,3 million units in November alone (taking into account the standard model and the Lite model) and is currently the best-selling console in the United States (a milestone that is reached for 24 consecutive months). In 2020, Nintendo's console sold 6,92 million units in the United States alone, surpassing the total number of systems sold in the whole of 11 in 2019 months (approximately 426.000 units). Nick Chavez, Senior Vice President of Sales and Martketing of Nintendo America said:

Nintendo Switch offers a unique proposition for shoppers during the holiday season with the ability to play on TV or in laptop mode in Dock mode. We continue to see unprecedented demand for the Nintendo Switch and are delighted that people of all ages and gaming skill levels will experience the console this holiday.
