Oscar 2021: a software house nominated for the first time (and it's from EA)

On the occasion of 93rd edition of the Academy Awards, to be held Sunday April 25, among the various nominations for the Oscar 2021 our attention fell on a totally unexpected candidacy, given that for the first time in the history of the famous ceremony we find a study from the videogame panorama. Yes, the first software house nominated for the prestigious film award is none other than Respawn Entertainment, but rest assured, the nomination has nothing to do with Apex Legends.

The American development studio founded by Jason West e Wins Zampella back in 2010 he was nominated for Oscar 2021 to Colette, a documentary (totaling 24 minutes) following one of the last surviving members of the French resistance in Nazi-occupied Germany. The content, co-produced by Respawn and Oculus as one of many live-action shorts from Medal Of Honor: Above And Beyond, is found in the Gallery mode included in the game. Clearly, the coveted accolade was celebrated by several team members, including Stephen Barton, artist who recently made the soundtracks for Apex Legends, Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, Watch Dogs: Legion, Titanfall 1 & 2, 12 Monkeys and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare. Most film companies don't get an Oscar nomination in their first decade of life. Many of these don't even get one. @ Respawn has just become the first software house to be named.
