PlayStation 5: a voice controller coming from Sony?

In the last three generations of consoles Sony has experienced from the point of view of hardware control peripherals, sixaxis with PlayStation 3, touch and audio output built into the pad for PlayStation 4 e Dualense and adaptive triggers for PlayStation 5, but now it looks like he may even be working on a voice controller.

In fact, a patent has been filed inPatent and Trademark Office in the United States, which suggests a device of the same type. According to the image posted on the office website, the controller would be divided into two parts, a microphone to speak into and a camera which records the movements and rotations of the controller.

This is not the first peripheral with similar operating mechanics, in fact the PlayStation Move, which also used a camera to read the movements of the motion controller. A voice device of this type, however, would be quite innovative and interesting.

Such a controller would be useful for players with specific types of disabilities, increasing accessibility and inclusion in gaming. But of course it would also be aimed at players without this type of problem, which they could try their hand at a different gaming experience from what we are used to.

The gameplay implications could be multiple. They could develop games entirely dedicated to this peripheral and playable exclusively with it, or titles that would use it in a complementary way, exploiting it in specific game section.

It could prove to be interesting and functional especially in some specific genres, such as strategic in real time, giving voice orders to the troops, simulators or titles in which multiple-choice dialogues are provided, but the possible applications are innumerable.
