PlayStation 5: compatibility with Remote Play confirmed

PlayStation 5: compatibility with Remote Play confirmed

With the latest firmware update for PlayStation 4 released today, ie the 8.0.0 update, several improvements have been introduced within the current gen consoles. Among the various improvements made to the system we also find a new version of the application Remote playback (o Remote Play in English), which officially changes its name to PS Remote Play and it will be compatible from day one also on PlayStation 5 systems. With this update, therefore, Sony has already confirmed that even on the next-gen units it will be possible to stream their games from the console of the current generation even on the new home console of the Japanese multinational, just as the same company reiterated in an official press release on own blog.

Updates to the Remote Play app on mobile devices and PCs
When version 8.00 is released, the name of the existing PS4 Remote Play app for mobile (iOS / Android), Windows PC and Mac will change to PS Remote Play and the option to connect to PS5 will be added. In order to access the feature, you will need to log into PSN from your PS5, so wait for the PS5 launch in November!

A user on Reddit would appear to have confirmed that the resolution of titles streamed on PlayStation 5 will have a 1080p maximum quality, while the other smaller resolutions can be selected by the player based on the speed of their connection. Obviously this news could turn up the nose of some enthusiasts who would have liked a better performance on a system that can reach a resolution in 4K, but despite this small stumbling block, the Reddit user also confirmed the compatibility with HDR also via Remote Play.

Obviously this possibility goes against all those who try to save precious memory in the SSD by playing a game installed on another system, while for all those who do not think they will run into this problem they can simply insert the CDs of the current-gen games inside the PlayStation 5 and once installed play them directly on the new console, also taking advantage of graphical updates that many games will offer for free to their users.
