PlayStation 5: the console will not have a technology similar to Smart Delivery

Missing less and less until players can finally get their hands on next-generation consoles Xbox Series X e PlayStation 5, but there are still many doubts to be clarified on the two platforms, which will arrive on the shelves towards the end of the year. Among the main advantages of the new home console Microsoft products we find the technology Smart delivery, which will allow players to purchase a title and find it available in the library of all the Xbox platforms they own. According to some recent rumors Sony would seem to want to take a different path, leaving the freedom to publishers to decide how to publish the titles, without using a new system created specifically for the console.

This is still speculation, as the company has not yet confirmed or denied the rumors in circulation, however, albeit Sony will not actively promote a cross-gen program, its position on third-party developers is no different than that taken by Xbox, which allows studios to decide for themselves whether to support smart delivery or not. The system adopted by Sony  to PlayStation 5 should include updates for next-gen, but Electronic Arts has already stated that owners of physical PS4 copies of Madden NFL 21 will not be able to upgrade to PS5 if they own the Digital Edition console. We just have to wait for more information on the console and the choices of Sony.
