PS Vita: Sony ceases production of the console also in Japan

Last September during the Tokyo Game Show, Hiroyuki Oda, vice president of Sony Interactive Entertainment, had announced that the Japanese company would cease production of PlayStation Vita also in Japan in 2019. In the last hours the confirmation of this decision has arrived, Sony had stopped production of the console in the West for a few months, and now PS Vita is preparing to retire even in the land of the Rising Sun.

PlayStation Vita launched at the end of 2011 in Japan and in February 2012 in the West, the platform has enjoyed some success in Asia but has never managed to establish itself in Europe and North America due to strong competition from Nintendo in the field of portable consoles and of the advance of mobile gaming.
