Rust: the console version has been postponed to 2021

Rust, the online multiplayer survival developed by Facepunch Studios, has fascinated a large number of gamers who are passionate about the genre since its launch. The title was released in early access in 2013, quickly breaking the sales record on Steam, and was released in its full version in February 2018, while remaining available only for PC and Mac users. According to the developers, however, this project still seems to have a lot to say, and it is for this reason - at the request of the public - that they relied on Double eleven to make a console version.

After the first announcement occurred during the event Microsoft X019, held in London between 14 and 16 November 2019, Double Eleven worked hard on the creation of a version of Rust that could also be playable on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. In the announcement trailer, it was confirmed that the console version of the game would be released in 2020, but the pandemic that hit the world this year caused difficulties that slowed down the work. Not so much the disease itself, as its prevention, was the cause of the handbrake, which forced the entire studio to have to work remotely and reinvent a new way to continue developing. Below are the words of the developers regarding the situation created:

As a company in 2020, a year that brought very difficult times for many, we felt very blessed to be able to continue doing what we love. We've always had a few remote workers, but moving the entire company home to keep everyone safe has been challenging, such as finding new ways to develop together in the new normal this year had in store for us.

The project therefore does not stop, Facepunch and Double Eleven have postponed the release date of the console version of Rust to 2021, without however providing a date or an indicative time window. The studio in charge of making this adaptation apologizes for the delay and the silence maintained during the last months, expressing its intention to want to share more information with the public in early 2021.
