During that interview, Evans did not rule out his possible return as Captain America, albeit under certain conditions.
If I would go back? Never say never, I love the character. […] It would be too difficult for me to say no, but at the same time my yes would not be entirely sincere. In this period I am working on other things. I think Cap did a really important gesture, and I also think the writers did a really great job of allowing him to close his path. If you intend to take the character back, it can only be for a commercial move. What are we talking about? What are we adding to the story? These are things that must always be considered.
La Johansson added that from his point of view Avengers: Endgame gave a worthy conclusion to the character of Captain America:
I wasn't there during the production of the last part of the film, I actually had no idea what was going to happen. It was a liberating ending, and I loved it for Steve. I think he deserved it, it was the happiness he wanted.
