Despite Microsoft products has recently launched two new consoles on the market that seem to have been a great success, the Redmond multinational seems to move in a completely different way than the competition as regards the gaming side. In recent years, the American company has wanted to focus much more on services dedicated to accessibility and streaming of games, such as Xbox Game Pass e Xbox Cloud Streaming (also known to most people as xCloud), and precisely as regards the latter Microsoft would have in mind to expand it even more in the coming years.
In a long interview with The Verge, Xbox CEO Phil Spencer talked about the future of Microsoft's gaming division, confirming that in the coming years there will be a ever greater focus on streaming of games and that his company is moving in this direction. In the interview, Spencer tells how now televisions are no longer that metal box that transmitted an image on a glass, becoming a sort of multimedia devices, which allow much more immersive and personalized experiences than a simple and banal zapping between the various TV channels. Precisely for this reason according to the head of Xbox it is absolutely possible that within the next 12 months an application dedicated to xCloud can be released and cloud gaming also on Smart TVs, allowing even more people to access this service.
At the moment Phil Spencer did not want to go into depth on the probable existence of this new app, even if this speech could very well be linked to the hint made by the CEO himself a few weeks ago on the creation of keys'Streaming Stick'to have fast access to xCloud on any device. Xbox's plans for the expansion of cloud gaming services seem really ambitious, although it will be necessary to see if Microsoft's engineers will be able to create an application that allows effective streaming even on Smart TVs.
