Xbox Series X and S: revealed the price needed to expand the storage [UPDATED]

With games becoming more and more complex and the space occupied on hard drives by both physical and digital titles increases, the possibility of having enough storage is one of the reasons why - more often than not - one console (or a variant thereof) is preferred over another. With the imminent arrival of the new ones next-gen console, whose line-up will be characterized by "heavier" games than those currently on the market, the problem of the free space available to download the games and their updates is more current than ever. This problem therefore also affects those who intend to buy the two next-generation consoles of Microsoft products, or Xbox Series X e Series S.

The two consoles in fact have a solid state hard drive (SSD) NVMe da one terabyte (on Series X) e 512 gigabyte (on Series S) which, as previously announced by the Redmond company, can be joined by one external card high performance, developed by Seagate specifically to be used on the two new platforms. This is the card External Custom PCI Express Gen4 x2, with a capacity of one terabyte and interfaced with the two consoles through the dedicated port, present on the back of the body of both Xbox Series X and Series S. If until now these news were already known, now we are also able to know what will be the selling price of this device. In fact, based on what was stated by the well-known and reliable leaker Wario64, the expansion card will go on sale on Best Buy (and probably also from other retailers) at a price equal to dollars 219,99.

A figure that can be high if we consider that it costs only $ 80 less than the Xbox Series S. Although it is possible to connect an external hard drive to the two consoles, it will be necessary to have this peripheral in order to install and take advantage of the new generation games in case we run out of space on the two consoles. Seagate's expansion card will be available on the market next year 10st November.

Updated: has been communicated the cost of the expansion card will be equal to  € 249,99.
