How to connect AirPods to Samsung Galaxy

Yes, AirPods can work with Samsung phones. Apple hasn't prevented them from being used with Android devices. Since Samsung smartphones run Android, you will have no problem using them with your device. Despite the custom chip that makes pairing AirPods with Apple devices a breeze, it's nothing more than pairing a simple Bluetooth device with your Samsung phone.

The procedure for pairing AirPods with a Galaxy phone is quite simple. First, make sure you have Bluetooth enabled on your device. Then open the AirPods case before pressing and holding the setup button located on the back of the case.

Continue to hold the button down until the status light starts flashing white. This is when you will see the AirPods appear in the list of nearby Bluetooth devices on your smartphone. Tap them to complete the pairing process and voila! Now you know how to connect AirPods to a Samsung Galaxy phone.

Pair AirPods with your Android phone

When pairing AirPods with a Samsung phone, you won't have to go through the sophisticated method used by iPhone users, of opening the AirPods case and waiting for a message to pop up and pair the devices. Instead, you'll need to use the proven method, which is to go into your device's Bluetooth settings.

Connecting to a device via Bluetooth requires an active Bluetooth connection from the device and phone.

  1. Swipe down from the top of the screen to open the quick settings panel, then long press the Bluetooth icon.
  2. Depending on your phone, you may need to select Add new device o Pair new device.
  3. With the AirPods in the charging case, open the lid.
  4. There is a small button on the back of the case. Keep it pressed until the indicator light starts flashing white.
  5. Your AirPods will then appear in the pairing menu on your Samsung phone, select them and follow the instructions on your phone.

With the AirPods connected to your Android phone, you can use them as you would any other Bluetooth headset or headset. They will automatically connect when removed from the case and disconnect when you put them back in the case.

If your android phone supports reverse wireless charging, you can charge them on the back of the phone. They also charge wirelessly via any other Qi-supported pad or via Apple's Lightning cable.

You will lose some features

You will need to repeat this process on all non-Apple devices that you want to use the AirPods with. If you are having trouble during the pairing process, try opening the case and holding the button on the back until the light starts flashing yellow. Release the button and close your lip before trying the above procedure again.

Keep in mind that you won't be able to use all the features offered by the AirPods because they only work when paired with an Apple device. Obviously Siri will not be available and the battery indicator of the AirPods will not be shown on the phone display.

However, there are third-party applications that allow you to view battery levels by simply opening the case next to the phone. I use an app called AirBattery and have not encountered any problems. Plus, it's free.

Features like automatic pause when an AirPod is removed from the ear won't work. Double tapping a headset will play / pause only the media.

The third-party AirBattery app claims to support auto pause as a beta feature, but only when playing music from Spotify. The app also warns you that enabling the beta feature will drain your Samsung phone's battery faster.

Also, you won't be able to activate Google Assistant with AirPods, as iPhone users can with Siri, simply because Apple has programmed its earbuds to work with its own voice assistant, not that of its competitors. You will need to initiate these queries in the traditional way, by talking to your phone.

Products like smartwatches and smart earphones are best only when used within the relevant ecosystem. Given that AirPods have achieved cult status in popular culture, it's understandable that quite a few people would want to use them without giving up their Samsung Galaxy phone.

Ah, if you have trouble connecting AirPods to Samsung Galaxy, turning both devices off and on again can often fix the problem
