In Mario Kart 8 there are several parts (they are bodies, wheels and ailerons) that you can unlock to customize the cars. While some are available immediately, others must be unlocked by collecting the coins scattered around the tracks. The parts are unlocked randomly, each time you collect a certain number of coins (at first one every 50 coins, then one every 100 coins collected).

In addition to those already listed there is a bonus Kart, the Golden Kart. To unlock this exclusive machine as well, you need to get the gold medal and the Star Rank in all championships, including the reverse ones (mirror). It won't be easy, but the rewards are worth the effort.

How to unlock the Golden Wheels and Golden Ailerons

To unlock the gold parts the company is less complicated: to have the gold wheels we will have to beat every ghost of the staff in time trial mode. To get the gold ailerons, just collect 10.000 coins.
