The Legendary Edition was announced by BioWare on November 7th through the official Twitter profile dedicated to Mass Effect.

Casey Hudson posted the following words on the BioWare blog:

For several months now, our BioWare team has been working hard to update the textures, shaders, models, effects and technical features of three huge games. Our goal was not to remake or reimagine the original games, but to modernize the experience so that fans and new players can experience the original work in its best possible form. It was great to see Commander Shepard's adventures come to life with super sharp resolution, faster framerates, and gorgeous visual enhancements. As game developers, we always hope our games transcend their original platforms. Having the opportunity to remaster the trilogy means that the fruits of a decade of our work will live on and be experienced better and more clearly than ever.

Mass Effect Legendary Edition will include core single player and DLC content from Mass Effect, Mass Effect 2 and Mass Effect 3, as well as promotional weapons, armor and packs, all remastered and optimized for 4K Ultra HD. It will be available in Spring 2021 for Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC, with future compatibility and targeted improvements on Xbox Series X and PlayStation 5. More information coming in the new year!

Hudson also stated on that occasion that a new chapter of the series Mass Effect is in development at BioWare studios. Before closing, we leave you to our in-depth analysis dedicated to the elements that convinced us less than the last chapter published to date, Andromeda.
