The Boys' Kripke lashes out at Marvel heroes

The Boys' Kripke lashes out at Marvel heroes

The showrunner of The Boys, Eric Kripkerecently revealed that he is a fan of the The Marvel movies, but he feels they are inherently dangerous to society in the way they portray their superheroes. He also discussed some of the social commentary surrounding The Boys; specifically how it ties into the current political climate in the United States. During an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Kripke briefly talked about the origins of superhero comics, saying that the era in which they were created "doesn't apply so cleanly today." Man believes there are “undeniable fascist bases”In early characters such as Superman, whose likeness was an inspiration for The Boys' psychotic antagonist, Homelander. When asked about his thoughts on Marvel and DC movies, he answered:

People might be surprised to know, but I'm actually a fan of Marvel works. The making of the film is often flawless. I actually really like the humorous tone in which many of them have been written. They are brusque, quick and easy-going and I love that style. My problem with them is not the movies themselves, but that there are too many overall. I think it's dangerous, not to overdo it or be overly dramatic, but it's kind of dangerous to train an entire generation to wait for someone strong to come in and save you.

Even if he does not believe in the messages proposed byMCU and from other superhero movies, Eric has no problem making it satire about movies. In fact, one of the season two moments was directly inspired by a key moment in Avengers Endgame. The all-female superhero team during the showdown was what Kripke found "ridiculous", leading to the parody of Stormfront e Starlight of "Girls get it done!".
