The Medium - Guide to the code of the armored door in the basement

The Medium is the first console exclusive chat for Xbox Series X / S, also released on PC, and developed by the guys from Bloober Team. The most ambitious title of the study (of which you can find the review at this link) is a narrative corridor, but it will occasionally present obstacles in the form of puzzles to continue. In the following guide, we will find out how to obtain - and reveal - the numerical code to open the security door.

Before leaving you to read, we would like to specify that in the following text there are some major or minor spoilers related to the plot of The Medium. We therefore strongly advise you to continue reading only if you have already reached the moment of the game in which the puzzle is proposed.

Find the code

To open the armored metal door located in the basement of the "Red House", you need to search around the entire floor. The door is behind a crack in the wall that we can pass through, and to open it will ask for a 4-digit numeric code.

The clues are hidden - almost in plain sight - inside the small room with the metal locker. Open it with the wire cutters, and inside you will find an object: it is the empty box of a watch, where there is an inscription that implies that it is a gift for the tenth anniversary of marriage of Thomas and his wife.

The second clue is instead the invoice placed on the table. You won't care much about that, other than the invoice year (i.e. the year the watch was purchased): 1976.

With these clues, it is easy to reason and calculate: the numerical password of the door is clearly the year of Thomas' wedding, and if the 1976th anniversary fell in XNUMX, the year of the wedding is therefore the 1966. Use this code on the keypad and the door will open.
