Gearbox: Microsoft has evaluated the purchase of the Borderlands studio

In recent years, but even more so in recent months, the main console manufacturers such as Microsoft Xbox e Sony PlayStation there have often been "battles" on various fronts, one of which also concerns the acquisitions of software houses or smaller companies. In the last period, the one that most of all has fomented the environment, has been the survey of the group ZeniMax Media by Microsoft (although to date it has yet to be fully perfected) and all the software houses and various related IPs. As if that weren't enough, according to the Microsoft insider Brad Sams, the Redmond company was also intent on acquiring Gearbox Software (Borderlands) which, unfortunately, we learn to have been bought by Embracer Group for the figure of approx 1.3 billions of dollars.

This does not take away the fact that Microsoft may have really thought of wanting to acquire it, but now it seems to be too late. An important company like Gearbox, led by a prominent title like Borderlands, would certainly have brought so much quality within the Xbox Game Studios.

Gearbox was one of the company's that inspired the original tweet, i believe Microsoft looked at Gearbox but clearly didn't complete the deal.https: //t.co/L06i6pmPBu

The Xbox policy of recent times is now clear. To rival Japanese companies such as Sony and Nintendo, both very strong thanks to their exclusives, division number one Phil Spencer has decided to bring the best development studios available to the Xbox studios. Often not hindering or interfering with the natural life of companies, but by exploiting their products in the now famous and very strong proprietary service known to all as the Xbox Game Pass. In 2021 we know that the Redmond house will still have to improve, and as he said some time ago, three other important acquisitions will have to arrive that will join the Xbox stable. For now, Gearbox Software is officially an Embracer Group company. These are the words of Randy Pitchford, well-known face of the software house:

A propellant for the exciting future we have in mind. Nurture and accelerate the ambitions of a number of decentralized and successful entrepreneurial companies, maximizing the collective value and benefits of diversification across the entire group ”.
