Riot Games: CEO has been charged with harassment, ongoing investigation

The CEO of Riot Games Nicolo Laurent is accused of sexual harassment against a former employee, such Sharon O'Donnell, who was fired fromcompany in June 2020. The woman held the post of executive assistant and, according to what she told VICE, she would be relieved of her position in the American software house because of a refusal of advances by the CEO. Specifically, Laurent would have repeatedly asked the woman to “come” to his house and to make trips outside of work with him. In addition, the manager would have complained several times to the assistant for her lack of femininity and he would have urged her in various situations to "tone down" since she was "just a woman".

Riot Games released a statement following allegations of the woman where she promises utmost seriousness during the investigation of what happened. The company also has hired a lawyer outside the company to ensure equal treatment for both parties, thus avoiding possible accusations of misdirection and favoritism. Despite the company distancing himself, O'Donnell has increased the dose by stating that several times she was not paid for her extra hours of work, and in particularly busy periods in the company's studies, she would have been also denied the lunch break.

The rest will now have to be done by the external lawyer. While the sexual harassment allegations against the CEO could take considerable time, the former employee's statements regarding unpaid hours and skipped meals could have short-term implications. If you confirm these complaints, Riot Games would be guilty of violating the "California Labor Code”And therefore heavy penalties for the company could arrive. In all this general chaos, the CEO continues to work normally in the company, collaborating with the investigations while awaiting the final verdict.
