The character of Captain America is about to celebrate hers eightieth birthday and, on the occasion of the anniversary, it will soon be possible to read a new comic miniseries. The United States of Captain America will be divided into 5 parts and the first issue, published by Marvel Comics, will come out June 2 2021. In this tribute to the birth of one of the most beloved superheroes in the Marvel universe, an important novelty will be introduced: the character of Aaron Fisher, the new Sentinel of Freedom, will be homosexual. Born from the mind of Joshua Trujillo and from the pencil of Jan Bazaldu, the newcomer was described as "a fearless teenager who stepped forward to protect fellow runaways and homeless".
The story will revolve around Steve Rogers, Bucky Barnes, Sam Wilson e John Walker , who will travel across the United States in search of the legendary superhero shield. During their research, they will find that ordinary people, belonging to all walks of life, have decided to take on the role of Captain America to defend their community, starting with Aaron Fisher. Marvel Comics has declared itself thrilled to honor the LGBTQ community with a new hero. Creator Trujillo stated:
Aaron is inspired by the heroes of the queer community: activists, leaders and ordinary people, who push every day for a better life. He represents the oppressed and the forgotten. I hope his debut will be remembered by readers and will inspire the next generation of heroes.
The designer Bazaldu then added:
I want to thank Alanna Smith and Joshua Trujillo very much for asking me to create Aaron. I really enjoyed coming up with his design and, as a transgender person, I'm happy to be able to present an openly gay character who admires Captain America and battles evil to help those who are nearly invisible to society. While drawing it, I thought that Cap fights against super-powerful beings and almost always saves the world, but Aaron helps those who walk alone down the street with the problems he faces every day. Hope people like the end result!
In a society that is turning more and more decisively towards inclusion and acceptance of minorities, a character like Aaron Fisher is essential. But this new hero will never cross the paper barrier to make it to the movies and being able to be universally appreciated by an even greater slice of spectators?
