    Aliens - Comic review

2017 is turning out to be the year of Alien: with the short release of the film in theaters, of which you will find one our review on our site, the expanded universe did not stand by, so much so that saldapress promptly published two books, a monthly staple dedicated to various short stories about the universe of the famous aliens, called Aliens, and a paperback named Prometheus - Fire & Ice, dedicated to the ship already seen in the previous film. Although the comic book that will contain the stories of the Dark Horse is called Aliens, it will contain short narrative cycles, dedicated to parallel stories, capable of expanding the already vast universe. In the first staple, released in April in all comics and newsstands, we have two chapters of the Aliens Defiance minisaga.

Aliens - Comic reviewWritten by Brian Wood (Conan the Barbarian, DMZ), drawn by Tristan Jones (Hoax Hunters) and colored by Dan Jackson (Star Wars, Buffy: The Vampire Slayer), the story will center on a marine expedition. Zula Hendricks, together with a group of synthetics, with the sole purpose of retrieving information on the Europa ship. Of course not everything will go for the best, and the courageous marine, without knowing who to trust and with a serious health problem, will have to be able to save herself, but above all all of humanity.

The stroke of the drawing reflects, without a shadow of a doubt, the very soul of the miniseries, released in America last year: dark, dirty, full of details that do not delineate the scenes perfectly, but that make them realistic. The coloring then, made of cold colors, gives off a metallic sensation, a bit the same seen in the various films screened at the cinema dedicated to the famous Aliens.

Aliens - Comic reviewIt is too early to judge the story, which in any case shows itself interesting from the first two chapters and, in some cases, it recalls characters or scenes from the first films of the saga, exploiting a little the nostalgia of the reader. We just have to wait for May to get our hands on the second issue of the series, which aims to act as a container for all the stories of the Dark Horse Comics that have already been released in America but that.
