They were assigned on the night of Sunday 10 February i British Academy of Film and Television Arts Awards (BAFTA Awards) the Oscar British outlining the possible winners of the Academy Awards. The awards ceremony hosted by Joanna lumley saw as the protagonist La Favorita di Yorgos Lanthimos, winner of seven awards: Best British Film, Best Actress (Olivia Colman), Best Supporting Actress (Rachel Weisz), Best Production Design, Best Screenplay, Best Costumes and Best Makeup and Hair. However, the award for Best Film went to Roma di Alfonso Cuaròn, in addition to the awards as Best Director, Foreign Film and Phototgraphy, all awarded to the Mexican director.
Rami Malek was awarded for his performance of Freddie Mercury in Bohemian Rhapsody e Mahershala Ali secures his second Oscar with this umpteenth award for Best Supporting Actor for Green Book. Spike Lee wins the first BAFTA of his career for the non-original screenplay of BlacKKKlansman, as well as Lady Gaga, awarded for the best music in A Star is Born.
