In a complex year like 2020 it is at least difficult to be able to look at Christmas with the same eyes of the past, and in fact we are experiencing these holidays in a particularly different way compared to those of previous years. Farewell to dinners, to meetings with distant relatives and to that general light-heartedness that involved us in these joyful days. Christmas, however, does not wait for anyone and once again he came knocking on our door, entering perhaps colder and quieter houses than usual. The hustle and bustle of recent months are difficult to put aside, but between one disaster and another it can do well to unplug for a few days, perhaps in the hope that the future will give us some surprises that do not include invasions of grasshoppers or deaths that they rise from their graves (seriously, that's all that's missing now). For the occasion, we therefore decided to make a list of Christmas-themed video games with which to spend these last days of 2020, a great way to recharge your batteries while waiting for the new year.
Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales
Let's start right away with one of the latest PlayStation productions, that Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales recently landed on PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5. The latest creature of the house Insomniac Games will see us take on the role of Miles Morales, who will have to manage his family life and the looming dangers as the friendly neighborhood Spider-Man. The title boasts all the qualities that we could already see in the original work, but with some pleasant gems flanked by an even more frenetic and dynamic combat-system, an unmissable experience for all fans of our favorite spider web shooter. Mention of merit also for the splendid Manhattan that we will be able to turn around, embellished by abundant snowfall and Christmas decorations capable of giving shape to simply splendid views.
Saints Row IV: How the Saints Save Christmas
If you enjoyed the main chapters of this famous videogame series, you absolutely cannot miss this madman DLC dedicated specifically to Saints Row IV. The boys of Deep Silver they have in fact launched into the making of a story centered on Christmas that will see you and your ramshackle gang grappling with a threat potentially capable of destroying forever one of the most loved holidays ever. Get ready for endless quotes, huge battles against marzipan soldiers, completely crazy situations, dirty jokes galore and a Santa Claus who can't wait to get a good hole in your head. What better way to spend Christmas than by experiencing it firsthand aboard the elusive sleigh of the chubby hero of the little ones, while throwing explosive gifts at the homes of unsuspecting dreaming children?
Batman: Arkham Origins
Developed by the guys from Warner Bors. Games Montreal, Batman: Arkham Origins identifies as a prequel to the original Batman: Arkham Asylum which, despite having strongly divided the opinion of the public, we still feel we can recommend. Impersonating a younger and more inexperienced Batman than usual, it will be our task to circle the buildings of a splendid Ghotam immersed in the heart of Christmas Eve while ugly thugs wander around the darkest and most infamous alleys of the city. With its particularly successful play structure - as per tradition throughout the series - and with the many antagonists well known to the Dark Knight and all his fans that we will be facing in-game, the adventure will surely keep busy all the curious eager to lead hands even during Christmas. After all, the masked hero is a full-time job.
Duke Nukem: Nuclear Winter
Let's take a big step back in time to be able to go back to touch one of the most famous videogame icons of the 90s, Duke Nukem. Duke Nukem: Nuclear Winter is in fact a 'expansion for Duke Nukem 3D, made by the guys from Simply Silly Software and released in December 1997. This time, Duke will have to take up arms to try and save Christmas after Santa Claus is captured and indoctrinated by the aliens we had kicked loudly back in the day. Immersed in the heart of the North Pole, we will therefore have to reach Santa's house and at the same time try to put an end to whatever plan has been put in place by the dangerous alien race, all obviously giving up our reserves of bullets.
Dead Rising 4
Although there is absolutely no mention of the most successful chapter of the brand, Dead Rising 4 is the perfect title to indulge in a little healthy ignorance in a Christmas sauce. Frank West is back, ready to be talked about with a new scoop in the town of Willamette, in Colorodato, where during the Christmas holidays a new infection has turned a large part of the population into dangerous brain eaters. Endless hordes of zombies, endless weapons and a lot of imagination in knowing how to use them to the fullest will be the pillars of an experience devoted to frenzy, where the important thing will be to throw oneself in the midst of thousands of walking corpses to repaint the white snow that has just fallen.
Viscera Cleanup Detail: Santa's Rampage
Until now we have presented a whole series of productions designed to make you the undisputed protagonist of the story, the one who for better or for worse will necessarily have to eliminate the bad guy on duty to save some world in danger. With Visceral Cleanup Detail: Santa's Rampage, however, you will finally be able to play the role you have always dreamed of and that no game has ever offered you, the cleaner. Grab the rag, get the water bucket ready and take a tour of Santa's house after some madman has carried out an unrivaled massacre. Clean the elven blood from the walls, throw the reindeer carcasses into the incinerator, remove those arms from the set table and give them under with elbow grease. Be careful though, as the secrets hidden in the red-painted house are many, and some of them could ruin all your painstaking work.
