Darkest Dungeon: announced the arrival of the board game

The practice of converting video games into board games is now quite widespread and seeing licensed table games based on famous video game titles is anything but rare. An example in this context is Bloodborne, masterpiece of From Software which already in 2019 had received a conversion following a campaign on Kickstarter. And always through crowfunding the board game of Darkest Dungeon, a roguelike title created by the indie software house Red Hook Games e reviewed from us in 2017. It was the same company that made it known, through a official press release of which we report below some passages:

Mythic Games will release a board game adaptation of Red Hook Studios' acclaimed Darkest Dungeon video game. This game will launch on Kickstarter in October / November 2020. This cooperative dungeon crawler was brought to Mythic Games by one of its employees, Nick Niotis. He had worked with his friend Argyris Pouggouras on a faithful adaptation of the video game! When the Mythic team reached out to Red Hook Studios in hopes of using Chris Bourassa's intellectual property and amazing art, their proposal was warmly received and development followed. This was the beginning of the journey.

Faithful to the elements that made the fortune of the original title, Darkest Dungeon: The Board Game requires four players to advance on the board taking the appearance of the main characters of the game, belonging to four different classes. Depending on the position in which the player will find himself, he will be able to use certain weapons or special abilities that distinguish the class of the chosen character. Each match will consist of eleven dungeons to overcome, beating the boss present at the end of each of them. Only by overcoming them all and defeating the main enemy you can finish the game while losing if all the heroes are defeated or eliminated by the final boss. We just have to wait for other official communications from Red Hook Games and Mythic Games regarding the announcement of the start date of the Kickstarter campaign.
