Dead or Alive 6 - Tried the new Team Ninja fighting game

Seven years have passed since the release of Dead or Alive 5, in the now distant 2012, and finally a new chapter of the fighting saga developed by Team Ninja is about to debut on the current generation consoles. Over the course of this weekend we had the opportunity to try the online component of the title thanks to theopen beta recently released. Password: "accessibility"

In this beta version, in addition to a short and very rough tutorial, only the "Ranked Match“, Which led us to clash with several players online. Regarding matchmaking and match waiting times, we didn't encounter any particular problems. The servers live up to expectations and it is possible to find an opponent in a very short time. Obviously, for this test, the roster was limited to only 5 characters: the famous Ayane, Kasumi, Hayabusa, Hayate and newcomer Diego. These are well characterized and, above all, well balanced. Focusing instead on the combat system: the main novelty is undoubtedly the introduction of the "Analysis“, Which, at first glance, could make the veterans of the series turn up their noses. It is important to note that, although this mechanic certainly makes the title more accessible, even the most seasoned fans will find something for their teeth as it does not affect the complexity of the title, but, on the contrary, increases its depth. In fact, the Special attack is accompanied by the Devastation indicator that can be used to unleash a powerful final blow, called "Devastating Blow". It can also act as a defense mechanism and, indeed, you will find yourself using it mainly for this reason. Also, as in the whole series, the combos need a lot of training to be mastered, but you will be able to chain some attacks after a couple of games. Unlike the previous chapters, therefore, Dead or Alive 6 certainly makes the approach to the title easier for newbies, but it represents an excellent challenge even for the most hardcore players.

An extraordinary technical sector

It's impossible not to notice the effort the development team put into making the technical sector which, let us tell you, is simply extraordinary. There resolution 4K it is surrounded by a very good lighting system and excellent polygonal models. Thanks to the new graphics engine, in fact, Dead or Alive 6 proves to be one of the best fighting games ever, at least from a technical point of view. But what really makes a difference is the care of the animations: the characters show off complex and, above all, realistic movements that, to the detriment of what one might think, influence the gameplay, even if in an obviously marginal way. Attacks, counterattacks and most importantly dodges are accompanied by smooth and well-crafted animations. There is no shortage of details such as abrasions on clothes and body, sweat and blood. Well done it is also the only one fighting arena available in this beta, with good depth of field and fantastic particle effects.

Dead or Alive 6 - Tried the new Team Ninja fighting game

In conclusion, Dead or Alive 6 looked really good in this open beta, showing us a solid combat system it's a excellent technical sector. The reinterpretations made by Team Ninja seem to be able to please anyone, from novice players to fighting game veterans, thanks to the introduction of more accessible controls, which still hide excellent depth and take several hours to master. In short, the grueling wait seems to have been well rewarded and we can't wait to get our hands on the complete game that, we remind you, will arrive on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC on March 1, 2019.
