In the course of these last hours it was officially announced that the shooting of the film Free guy, starring Ryan Reynolds, have finally begun. In this new film, Reynolds will play the role of a bank teller I suddenly realized I was a background character in a video game titled Free City. Somehow not yet specified, the man discovers that the developers of the game want to close the servers and for this he decides to embark on a dangerous mission to save his world.
Free Guy is directed by Shawn Levy, known for directing Night at the Museum and several episodes of Stranger Things. The film also stars Taika Waititi, Joe Keery, Jodie Comer, Utkarsh Ambudkar e Lil rel howery. The filming of the film is reportedly taking place in Boston. Additionally, it was revealed that Comer, an actor already praised for his performance in Killing Eve, will play a character named "Molotov Girl" who will team up with Reynolds to save the game.
The story appears similar to that told in The Truman Show, where the protagonist Jim Carrey discovered that he was actually the star of a TV show based entirely on his life. Also, Free Guy has made a lot of noise for being one of the first films of Fox to be shot after the acquisition of Disney. The release of the film in cinemas is currently expected on July 3, 2020.
