Ghost Recon Breakpoint - Preview of the new Ubisoft game

During the Ubisoft E3 conference we got to see, in addition to seasonal classics like Just Dance, also other interesting titles like Watch Dogs: Legion, Roller Champions and Ghost Recon Breakpoint. The latter in particular represents a real breaking point with the previous chapters linked to the brand and is in fact a new starting point that generates very high expectations. Precisely for this reason we decided to analyze this new work created by Ubisoft Paris with a 360 ° preview. Are you ready to relive the emotions of a Ghost?Ghost Recon Breakpoint - Preview of the new Ubisoft game

A little hint of history

Ubisoft, with its brand new Ghost Recon Breakpoint leave the pristine and barren Bolivian lands show us in Wildlands to lead us this time on Auroa, a private island owned by the billionaire entrepreneur Jace Skell located in the south of the Pacific: here is the Skell Technology company, which deals with the creation of drones and advanced technologies for civil, but above all military use. However, the tranquility and safety of this atoll are endangered by the ex-ghost Cole D. Walker (played by Jon Bernthal, actor famous for having given the face of Shane Walsh in the television series The Walking Dead) who, at the head of a private militia made up of soldiers finely trained and equipped with state-of-the-art equipment, occupies the company obtaining the control of all the technological discoveries present within it. Unable to mobilize entire armies to avoid waging a terrible war, the task of restoring security on the island will once again be given to a team of Ghosts led by Tony Perryman aka Nomad (face already known to players of Ghost Recon Wildlands).

Ghost Recon Breakpoint: a new beginning for this famous brand

Taking an in-depth look at Ghost Recon Breakpoint we can immediately notice Ubisoft's desire to experiment with new dynamics, thus avoiding re-proposing a formula that has already been tested and therefore safer. So let's get away from what we have already seen in Wildlands and get ready for the introduction of survival mechanics, to the possibility of change our character's class, and a much more reasoned stealth approach than in the past. The software house in fact offers us a weighted title and more aimed at military realism, letting us bivouac in enemy territory between one mission and another and inviting us to carry out a survey phase before the action, researching and gathering as much information as possible on the place and on the enemies present that will allow us to plan our actions without throwing ourselves into disarray. Yes, Ghost Recon Breakpoint offers us a much more tactical gameplay than in the past, making us fully identify with members of the special forces.Ghost Recon Breakpoint - Preview of the new Ubisoft game

However, one consideration must be made. While it is true that Breakpoint pushes the player to a more tactical approach to missions, it does not imply that he must necessarily comply with the rules imposed on him.. Although the narrative context is distorted (you are in fact Ghosts, members of the special forces trained to carry out your missions in a "clean" way), this work absolutely does not prohibit you from launching behind enemy lines armed with a powerful rifle. assault (did anyone say Rambo?) and shed blood and circuits all over the battlefield. Of course, it is definitely not the right approach, but the gamer is still given freedom of action. Ubisoft also allows its audience to engage in this adventure completely alone, even if playing in cooperative mode, perhaps with three other close friends, gives this work a whole different light.

The other strengths

Graphically very beautiful, an applause must be made to Ubisoft for the creation of a naturalistic biodiversity, but above all landscape, of the island. Whether it is a large open expanse, a beach or a sub-tropical forest, the settings are maniacally re-proposed and contain diversified flora and fauna useful for the crafting system accessible during the bivouac.

Furthermore the narration of this work seems really convincing and the choice to use Jon Bernthal to play the role of the villain seems more than apt. The American actor has in fact charisma to sell and we are sure that he will be able to best characterize the character of Cole D. Walker, making him one of the most popular villains in the videogame world, like Vaas Montenegro from Far Cry 3.

Our expectations

The game, at least on paper, looks really good and could represent a real step forward for the entire brand. Ubisoft has all the cards on the table to make this work a real best buy for all lovers of the genre, but above all it still has a few months to correct and improve the small critical issues that may be present at the moment. We will know, however, if we saw each other right only shortly before Ghost Recon Breakpoint debut, scheduled for October 5th, when the software house will give the opportunity to try this work to those who still have doubts about it.
