Halo Infinite may not follow in the footsteps of the other titles in the saga

Halo Infinite is clearly the most anticipated title currently coming from the minds of Xbox Game Studios: much of what 343 Industries has shown so far has been focused on a spiritual reboot that draws on the beginnings of Halo. The exact form the game will take after launch, however, could be very different from traditional titles in the saga. Phil Spencer, executive vice president of games Microsoft products, recently spoke with Polygon how 343 Industries has grown as a studio; His comments also provided some interesting new, if cryptic, insights into the kind of game Halo Infinite will be:

There has been a lot of learning in the studio about what it actually means to have a collection, the kind of wholeness of Halo lore and stories and experiences within a Halo world, a Halo UI comparable to that of a platform. As 343 went through this journey, they saw some of the benefits of not requiring our customers to make a decision between "do I want to play this or that?".

With that in mind, it's possible that Halo Infinite will receive extensive post-launch support, turning the title into a platform rather than a simple video game. The wait, however, is still short: the event Xbox Games Showcase July 23 will finally reveal what Microsoft has in store with Halo Infinite. Did you know that during this event, the campaign will also be shown?
